Homemade Face Cream

I know it may seem a little daunting to make your own face cream, but its actually an easy and cost effective way to nourish your skin. Plus, it guarantees that you can be confident about every single ingredient you put on your body. While, I do have my favourite organic store bought products, there is something that feels so fulfilling about making your own skincare products at home.

This cream leaves my skin feeling smooth and moisturized and thats thanks to these ingredients.

Rose Oil - Not only does the beautiful scent of rose help relieve stress, rose oil is a great addition to your skincare for its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties.

Coconut Oil - Raw unfiltered coconut oil is packed with vitamin E, proteins, fatty acids and potent antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties that are marvellous for the skin.

Vitamin E - An important antioxidant for the skin, Vitamin E is known for its anti-inflammatory process and has also been used for anti-aging treatments. I even made my own belly balm with coconut oil and vitamin E oil when I was pregnant with Jude, and managed to prevent stretch marks.

Jojoba Oil - Moisturizes the skin so wonderfully because it closely resembles sebum, which is a natural oil produced by our skin. This also makes jojoba oil a great option for oily or acne prone skin.

Lavender Essential Oil - Lavender is best known for its calming effect, so adding this to your evening skin care routine can help you relax and settle in for a restful nights sleep. Plus, lavender’s anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties can help reduce acne and other unwanted skin blemishes.

To make this simple nourishing cream, you’ll need:

1/4 cup rose oil

1/8 cup coconut oil

4 TBSP beeswax

1/4 tsp vitamine E oil

1 TBSP jojoba oil

1 tsp arrow root powder

15 drops lavender essential oil

Rose Oil

To make your own rose oil, simply fill a glass jar with dried rose petals and cover with olive oil, or your oil of choice. Cover with the lid and leave to sit in a cool dry place for two weeks, giving it a couple gentle shakes.

Once your rose oil is ready, you’re all set to make your face cream. Add prepared rose oil, coconut oil and beeswax to a double boiler, or something you rigged up to resemble a double boiler. Gently melt the oils (without boiling) to blend together. Then, set aside and add your vitamin E, jojoba oil, and essential oils. Mixing to combine and leave the mixture to cool for several hours. Once cooled, add arrow root powder if you don’t like your end result to be too greasy and then use a mixer, or hand mixer to gently whip the mixture into a soft creamy texture.

Scrape into a jar, seal and store in a cool dry place.

This lovely face cream is more like a balm so remember that a little goes a long way. I hope you enjoy making this at home, and experience soft supple skin with ingredients you can trust.
